Meeting Report
Hello all,

What wonderful attendance last week to hear about Walden's year in Sweden. It's a bit sad we weren't able to get an outgoing exchange student from our valley for the upcoming school year, but we are still slowly building this program out. Perhaps next year!

In keeping with our exchange student theme, we will be saying our final FAREWELL to Eszter on Thursday. As well as having the opportunity to meet her family who has traveled all the way from Hungary to let Eszter tour them around the country she's now much more familiar with!
A few items of organizational business:

Item 1: DUES
Just a reminder that paying in advance is easy for our bookkeeper and easy for you!
Always feel welcome to drop a check in the bucket, make a note it's for dues in the memo line and get ahead!
It's hard to get behind. We've escalated the poor customer flow of paying past due invoices to QuickBooks, but we don't really have the power to make it smoother. However, we all have the power to hopefully just not get behind on the invoices to begin with.
If you are worried that the months fly by and have found yourself behind and writing checks to make up, talk to Sheryl or email treasurer@nfvrotary.org and you can get set up to pay in advance or just pay the monthly dues all at once on an annual basis.

Also -
f there is work that our group does or work that RI does that you want to give sustained support to without having to remember to give annually, you can add a little to your monthly dues and Heidi and Sheryl will make sure it gets to the right account. It's really any program that you want to support - but here are some options:
General CLUB fund (this is where we can use it the most to make up budget shortfalls without having to raise dues)
Scholarship
New member sponsorship
RI Annual Fund
RI Polio Fund
Community Committee (supports local groups and efforts that aren't covered by other committee/program work)
Mental Health Committee (supports providing mental health resources in the valley)
Youth Services Committee (supports Dictionaries and RYLA summer program)
International Committee (supports RYE and an international project)
or any specific program you want to give a little extra support to

For example last year, each month I gave an extra $5 to Scholarships and General CLUB fund.
This year is a little tighter for me, but I think I can trim in other places, and our Scholarship fundraising is so effective that I'm pivoting and giving an extra $5 to:
General CLUB fund
RI Annual fund
Members sponsorship &
Rotary Youth Exchange

If this is something you are interested in modifying, let me/Sherly know your plans ASAP and we can get it all set for your August Invoice.
You can reply to this email. You can write it on a slip of paper and drop it in the bucket. Whatever you do, please write it down - I don't trust myself to remember something of this sort of import without a reference. Thanks! This will be the last time I nudge on this for a while.

Item 2: ACCESS to our NFV Rotary Shared Drive
As we work to grow our base and aim to bring in younger Rotarians transparent and accessible ways of accessing more info is important. I know I felt like Rotary was a bit of a black box when I came on-board. I was okay with that, I was a bit overwhelmed in my worklife and couldn't realistically have taken on much more, but did find it somewhat frustrating that I had to know who to ask what to find things out. It was a bit intimidating as the new kid who didn't really know anyone or even really what to ask.
I've worked over the last couple years to create a shared document space and organize it in a way that I hope is rather intuitive.
Hopefully, the most difficult part of all this for everyone is learning the routine of accessing the resources. Fingers crossed it's smooth sailing after that! But it's a new process, so feedback is a gift and I'm eager to hear what friction points folks have so I can make it a smoother process for the next folks!

Item 3: EVENTS
If we have time after hearing from Eszter and her family, we can talk about the year ahead and what committees are up to as far as events that the rest of us can support!
It will be easier if folks know how to access our Shared Google Drive, so we can all literally be on the same page!
Remember, we've shifted our organizational structure so it's not up to the BOD to determine all the things top down, we are asking committees to organize and fulfill their ambitions from the bottom up! This is still setting root, so the page that we can all kinda look at for now is:
She's not perfect, but she'll do for now ^_^

Looking forward to seeing everyone at NOON on Thursday,
Tanya

Sarah Bishop - Growing Club Membership
Sarah Bishop - March 5, 2026 - Growing Club Membership - Assistant District Governor & local member Sarah Bishop spoke to the club this week.  Her message was an encouragement for members to get involved with seeking and convincing friends and other North Fork residents to join with us as members of the “Wonderful World of Rotary”.  The session began by evaluating a standard issue power point from Rotary International.  The consensus of the group was that that it would be better to address the issue on a one-to-one basis at the local level.  Sarah is to suggest that theme to the membership committee.
